Hydroponic crop yields

With Tower Gardens we are able to uniformly test hydroponic crop yields across multiple towers.

We will be measuring the harvested weight of various crop types. Currently we are testing: baby leaf lettuce, head lettuce, red leaf lettuce, arugula, mustard leaf, mint, basil, and parsley.

We can then compute an average weight per plant type per planted basket.

Using that number we can infer how densely we could plant the pots in a flat bed, or any other type of system. This would provide us with a fairly accurate potential yield per area of grow space.

In addition, we have employed fluorescent lights and Philips LED grow lights separately in two Tower Gardens and measure energy usage for both. With this information along with the above we will be able to compute a target profit margin on various crops.

Will we be sharing this data?

Below is a spreadsheet format that we will be using for recording the test results.
It will be automatically updated with our most up to date information.
